Bad Company is the debut studio album by the English hard rock supergroup Bad Company. The album was recorded at Headley Grange with Ronnie Lane's Mobile Studio in November 1973, and it was the first album released on Led Zeppelin's Swan Song Records label. The album reached the top of the US Billboard 200. Since then, the album has been certified five times platinum by the RIAA, and became the 46th best selling album of the 1970s

When the first Bad Company album came out, the song resonated with their audience, too, and was quickly established as a staple of the band’s live show. But why would people respond so strongly to a song about 19th-century outlaws? After all, send a Bad Company crowd to the old West and it’s highly unlikely than many of them would have been wearing black and rolling revolvers around their index fingers. By the time Bad Company came to record their debut album, in late 1973, they were so well-rehearsed they managed to complete it in two weeks at Headley Grange, while Led Zeppelin broke off from working on Physical Graffiti. For the track Bad Company, Rodgers left the old house and went out to the garden with a mic. He could record in a phone box and sound good, says Kirke. Going outside was something that just popped into his head, to try something new.
The album was the worst selling Bad Company album of those that had Paul Rodgers as the front man. The album peaked at No. 15 in the UK and No. 26 in the U. .After the release of Rough Diamonds, Bad Company disbanded. Mick Ralphs said, "Paul wanted a break and truthfully we all needed to stop. On 2 July 2008 it was announced that the original remaining line-up of Bad Company would do a one-off gig at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, Florida on 8 August 2008. For this show, the surviving three were joined by Howard Leese (guitar, formerly of Heart) and bassist Lynn Sorenson.

Mick decided to leave Mott and form a new band with Rodgers. From there, the two added former King Crimson bassist and vocalist Boz Burrell, and added drummer Simon Kirke, and thus, Bad Company was formed. Their debut album self-titled Bad Company was a hit around the world, going platinum five times over. We did interesting experiments like placing the vocal microphone way out in the fields for the song ‘Bad Company.
They never made a bad album imo. Dangerous Age on vinyl is cool. You can't beat a great power ballad. I am with you on the awesomeness of the Frontiers album. Great ballads from Journey. I know we have never met but it feels like we went to high school together and know each other. I really like both eras of Bad Company.
