Scandinavian and American jazzmen interact with intellectual yet fairly lyrical results on Orbis, a post-bop outing that unites Swedish bassist Bruno Råberg and Norwegian soprano and tenor saxophonist Ole Mathisen with American improvisers Tim Ray (piano, keyboards) and Bob Moses (drums). Råberg's own compositions dominate the CD, which is primarily a straight-ahead jazz release and finds him sticking to acoustic bass but sometimes employs Ray on electric keyboards and contains hints of fusion here and there; the Swede's writing hasn't escaped such influences as Weather Report,.

Bruno Råberg (born July 13, 1954) is a Swedish-born jazz bassist, composer and music professor based in Boston. Bruno Råbergis an internationally renowned bass player and composer and a mainstay on the Boston music scene. Since coming to the US from his native Sweden he has made 11 recordings as a leader, about 30 as a sideman, and has performed with numerous world-class artists.
