Modest Mouse is an American rock band formed in 1992 in Issaquah, Washington and currently based in Portland, Oregon. The founding members are lead singer/guitarist Isaac Brock, drummer Jeremiah Green, and bassist Eric Judy. Strongly influenced by Pavement, Pixies, XTC, and Talking Heads, the band rehearsed, rearranged, and recorded demos for almost two years before finally signing with small-town indie label K Records and releasing numerous singles.

is the third album by the People Under the Stairs. The album was again produced in Thes One's home entirely by the duo, and it was finally released in June 2002 on Om Records. The album produced three singles, including "Acid Raindrops", one of the group's most successful songs and a constant staple at live shows. album profits to steadily amass a large supply of vinyl

Thematically, Modest Mouse has also been able to capture effects of living in the Pacific Northwest (a land of perpetual rain and more darkness than light) such as painful self-awareness and constant anxiety. Here, we take a look at 10 of the band’s best songs.

It took Modest Mouse eight years to release their latest album, Strangers to Ourselves, a time in which fans were left in eager anticipation. Thankfully, there won’t be as much bated breath before the band’s seventh LP, as frontman Isaac Brock previously revealed their well on their way to completing it. In a new interview with Hot Press, Brock provided more details on the next album, calling it a companion piece to this record. We basically made two records at the same time, he explained

And album after album, Modest Mouse prove to be masters of closers: "Of Course We Know" leaves you at Brock's quintessential crossroads of (nihilist) existence. Perhaps what makes Modest Mouse so interesting is that rather than being compared to their peers, they are consistently compared to themselves.
