Great pressing, really high quality packaging. My version does have 2 points on side A where the sound fades to mono for a second, which is strange, but otherwise great. Reply See 1 reply Notify me Helpful. Marketplace 0 6 For Sale from €3. 2.

LP (12" album, 33 rpm), Import. The Darkness Format: Vinyl. will(england) comes THE DARKNESS, and looking for a place to land! I should say not a moment to soon!! Thank God. This album is so full of Great Hooks, Great Riffs, Great Tunes, Great Melodies, it is absolutely a joy to listen to. While this album is chock full of rockers, not to be overlooked is the gripping heart-felt ballad "Holding My Own". The brothers Hawkins have obviously studied thier craft, spent the required time on their instruments and then some. Special Thanx to England for saving Rock and Roll again.

I re-listened to this recently. The singles from the album were pretty cool as an impressionable tween in 2004. Listening to this now, I think the cheese still holds up. It's campy hair metal but it works. Permission to Land" adds something interesting to an otherwise oversaturated genre (well when this album came out, hair metal was already dead). The guitar solos go hard and the vocals are theatrical. This holds up almost 15 years later and the band's debut effort is always worth.

Their debut album Permission to Land is by far the best example of their raw, unfettered talent. Permission to Land is a modern rock triumph in a classic metal package. Permission to Land is an excellent example of how to do all the right things while writing songs/making an album. If only The Darkness had followed most of these practices for their sophomore album (2005’s One Way Ticket to Hell And Back), I have no doubt that I wouldn't be praising their debut as being their greatest triumph (so far). You have to remember that even though The Darkness are only two albums into their career, they’ve already faced several problems (major and minor). Most notably would be the departure of bassist Frankie Poullain in May of 2005.

The strongest quality The Darkness have going for them, however, is that they can write a damn good pop song. After all, that's what made bands like Kiss and Queen so tremendously huge in their day. It's one thing to indulge in the rock and roll lifestyle, but it's another thing entirely to do it with talent and general appeal
