Man of Constant Sorrow" (also known as "I Am a Man of Constant Sorrow") is a traditional American folk song first published by Dick Burnett, a partially blind fiddler from Kentucky. Man of Constant Sorrow is a traditional American folk song first recorded by Dick Burnett in 1913. It remains uncertain whether Burnett actually wrote the song. One claim is that an earlier version came from Ireland in the late 19th century. Burnett gave an interview near the end of his life and in it he said he really couldn’t remember if he wrote it or heard it and took in on as his own. The song gained renewed popularity with the release of the 2000 film O Brother, Where Art Thou? The song is performed by Dan Tyminski for the soundtrack.

I am a man of constant sorrow I've seen trouble all my days I bid farewell to old Kentucky The place where I borned and reined. For six long years I've been in trouble No pleasure here on earth I've found For in this world I'm bound to ramble I have no friends to help me now. It's fare thee well my old lover I never expect to see you again For I'm bound to ride that northern railroad Perhaps I'll die upon this train. You can bury me in some deep valley For many years where I may lay Then you may learn to love another While I am sleeping in my grave
