Van Halen Rising has risen once again. Two and a half years after releasing his highly acclaimed book Van Halen Rising author Greg Renoff appeared for the first time on Eddie Trunk’s Sirius/XM radio show Trunk Nation. Renoff sat down with Trunk Wednesday afternoon (4/17/18) for a lengthy interview which took place at The Hard Rock in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Premiering exclusively on the Van Halen News Desk, guitarist Jacob Deraps and drummer Josh Gallagher have released their cover of Van Halen’s 1977 demo, We Die Bold, with Jacob on guitar, bass, and vocals, and Josh pounding the drums. When Van Halen released the half-hearted Diver Down in 1982 they were already one of the most popular hard rock bands on the planet, but when they put out their sixth studio album two years later, they instantly became a mainstream phenomenon. Interestingly, 1984, which came out on January 9, 1984, is the band’s most popular release to date, having sold more than 20 million copies, yet it never reached No. 1 on the Billboard album chart. Blame Michael Jackson’s Thriller for keeping 1984 at No. 2 for five straight weeks  . House of Pain was a song Van Halen played during their club days in the mid-‘70s, and the band performed part of Girl Gone Bad in the middle of Somebody Get Me a Doctor during their 1982 tour.

The third Van Halen album hit the streets in 1980. The band had a lot of live up to, coming off of the success of the first two records. With Women and Children First they knocked it out of the park. Truthfully, it was a decent record, and I loved getting a new Van Halen album, but at the same time it wasn't like the old days. I’m sure they know this. What’s Next for Van Halen? It’s been several years since Van Halen has released an album, and almost a decade since their last studio effort. At least in the interviews I’ve read, Eddie and Alex still seem to have the drive to create new music
