A Tribute to Judas Priest: Legends of Metal Vol. I and A Tribute to Judas Priest: Legends of Metal Vol. II are tribute albums, both released in 1997 by Century Media Records. It includes several rock and metal bands such as Helloween, Overkill, Saxon, Heavens Gate, Blind Guardian, Mercyful Fate, and Iced Earth, covering songs by British heavy metal band Judas Priest. Some of the songs included in this album have been previously released by the artists. The Hellion/Electric Eye" (Helloween).

If Judas Priest are to be among the last of their generation standing, their sound and fury remains at full power in 2018, from the revving guitar roar of "Evil Never Dies" to the heavier Sabbath groove on "Children of the Sun," which has Halford delivering one of his most expansive vocal performances, shifting from threatening to mournful and vulnerable. Priest is holding the torch for British heavy metal and passing it on. That's exactly where we're at now as we hurtle towards our 50th anniversary in 2019. That's an extraordinary thing. Before black sabbath finally recorded a new studio album with 13, ozzy often worried about living up to the weight of what they had accomplished. Have you ever felt overwhelmed by your own history?

Steve Jennings/WireImage. It’s impossible to overstate Judas Priest‘s importance to the evolution of metal. Other bands like Motörhead and Deep Purple had one guitar player and they were doing different things, more of a layering thing, but when it came to Judas Priest, they had the guitarists coming together and playing the same riff, Metallica drummer Lars Ulrich recently told Rolling Stone of their importance. It just doubled up and gave it a heavier, bigger sound and made it thicker and more immersive. Moreover, Judas Priest helped pioneer a lot of the topics metal songs address.

Black Sabbath is the debut studio album by the English rock band Black Sabbath. Released on 13 February 1970 in the United Kingdom and on 1 June 1970 in the United States, the album reached number eight on the UK Albums Charts and number 23 on the Billboard charts. Black Sabbath is widely considered the first heavy metal album. Additionally, the opening track of the album-Black Sabbath-is widely considered to be the first doom metal song.
