Delbert McClinton has earned three Grammy awards; 1992 Rock Performance by a Duo with Bonnie Raitt for "Good Man, Good Woman"; 2002 Contemporary Blues Album for "Nothing Personal"; and 2006 Contemporary Blues Album for "Cost of Living He was inducted into the Texas Heritage Songwriters Hall of Fame in March 2011, along with Lee Roy Parnell, Bruce Channel, Gary Nicholson, and Cindy Walker.
Worth R&B great Delbert McClinton has a Downtown Austin condo and a fresh start for his diamond jubilee. McClinton carefully surveying Antone's as the club nears its resurrection makes for a fitting moment. Two years ago, the future of both Texas blues icons seemed in doubt. In April 2014, McClinton had emergency heart surgery, a triple bypass. It came only two weeks after his son, San Marcos songwriter Clay McClinton, had been hospitalized with a severe head injury following a car accident. He has a new band, and new album due in the spring. His son made a full recovery and plays across Texas in preparing his fifth LP. Back in the warmth of his 10th-floor condo beside the Hilton Garden Inn, Delbert looks out the window over Downtown Austin, a view cutting straight down Fifth Street toward the new Antone's. Though long based in Nashville, the couple still makes it to Austin at a rate of once a month.

Cost of Living continues the astonishing run of Delbert McClinton recordings that have come along since the mid-'90s. While some would argue that McClinton has always been consistent, Cost of Living ranks up there with Keeper of the Flame, Plain from the Heart, and Jealous Kind. This set contains 13 tunes, the majority of which McClinton either wrote or co-wrote with old mates including Gary Nicholson, Glen Clark, and Al Anderson. Delbert McClinton is a blues musician born 4 November 1940, in Lubbock, Texas. He honed his craft working in a bar band, The Straitjackets, backing visiting blues giants such as Sonny Boy Williamson II, Howlin' Wolf, Lightnin' Hopkins, and Jimmy Reed. He made his first recordings as a member of the Ron-Dels and was noted for his distinctive harmonica work on Bruce Channel's 1962 hit "Hey Baby".
