Hanns Eisler (6 July 1898 – 6 September 1962) was an Austrian composer (his father was Austrian, and Eisler fought in a Hungarian regiment in World War I). He is best known for composing the national anthem of East Germany, for his long artistic association with Bertolt Brecht, and for the scores he wrote for films. The Hochschule für Musik "Hanns Eisler" is named after him.

Exil biography EXIL was an obscure German fusion group active during the 70's which consisted of Eva Lutz, Georg Eckl, Jotwin, Bernd Funk, Bewin and Bernd Steiner. Their only album can be recommended to fans of jazz rock with folk and other ethnic influences in the vein of EMBRYO. EXIL Videos (YouTube and more).

Hanns Eisler was born in Leipzig on 6 July 1898 and went to school in Vienna Arnold Schoenberg in 1919, dedicating his Sonata for Piano o. 1959 erlebte er in der Staatsoper Unter den Linden die Uraufführung seiner zum Großteil im Exil komponierten Deutschen Symphonie. Hanns Eisler starb am 6. September 1962 in Ost-Berlin.
