Dan Deacon isn't the only indie artist to attempt to sum up the condition of America in recent years but his personal take is as valid as any. Inspired in part by Cormac McCarthy's The Road, the Baltimore composer's eighth album offers a musical analysis of the USA based on the notion that it is badly broken but still fixable

America (Dan Deacon album). America is a studio album by American electronic musician Dan Deacon, released August 27, 2012 on Domino Records. The album cover is a photo of Lake Placid. America was recorded using both electronic sounds and live recordings. An anechoic chamber was built in Baltimore to record the orchestral track "Rail

Though he's made a name for himself based on his irreverent and impossibly enthusiastic electro-pop, Dan Deacon shows off the more thoughtful side of his hectic composition style on the thoughtfully orchestrated America. Rather than the non-stop, sweat-fueled party atmosphere found on Spiderman of the Rings, the album continues the experimentations Deacon started on Bromst, working more and more with live instruments and exploring emotions outside of "party.

The episode incorporates surreal footage of landscapes in the United States, with music by Dan Deacon from the album America. The special was commissioned by Williams Street Records as part of the Adult Swim 2013 Singles Program.

This seems to be the day when just about everyone has a new album streaming online. Deacon’s new album America drops next week, and we’ve posted his songs Lots and True Thrush. Below, listen to America in its entirety. America is out tomorrow on Domino.

The music was inspired by his love of cross-country travel; the lyrics explore his frustration with Uncle Sam. Since releasing 2009's Bromst, Deacon has composed pieces for percussion ensembles and chamber orchestras and scored Francis Ford Coppola's ghost movie Twixt. A refined, classical aesthetic and electronic kookiness mesh wonderfully on America.

America is an album packed with melody and noise, minimalism and excess, harshness and beauty - sometimes all the same time. Dan Deacon's music is steeped in pop, electronics and classical music, making this record an absolute adventure. Deacon spent time studying composition and electronic music at Purchase College, State University of New York
