00 Weekend isn't as ambitious as Super Psychedelics, but it's ultimately more successful. They never quite get a groove going on "Respect" or "Uptight (Everything's Alright)," but they're professional, entertaining versions, as are the covers of "What Now My Love," "Georgy Girl," "Ode to Billie Joe," "Sunny," "To Sir, With Love," "Music to Watch Girls By," "Groovin'," "Windy," "Sealed with a Kiss" and "Yesterday.
And after all these years, Super Psychedelics still sounds great. Psychedelic Venture" is probably the best tune on the album which I am surprised that no "modern" surf or instro bands have covered (to my knowledge, anyway). Unfortunately, "1,000,000 Weekend" does not fare as well, most of it being rather uninteresting covers, except for "Music To Watch Girls By", which almost ALWAYS sound great anyway. At least I have my mitts on Super Psychedelics again, and it still sounds great over 40 years since its release

Greatest Instrumentals of the. Always loved the Ventures and this album gave a wonderful slant to Psychedelic Music. They provided great versions of Strawberry Fields, A Little Bit Me, Western Union and Happy Together. In 1967 I was in high school and the music provided a great background to my wants, needs and fantasies of the times. Whenever I want to recapture my mind, and my youth, from the late 60's I play this album.
