Together they form the so-called Ancient Tapes, recorded during album sessions last year. Also included on the re-release is the entirety of the trio's 2015 EP Prophecy.

Channel The Spirits is primarily his spellbinding show. It’s aptly-titled, as he blows the doors off the traditional swinging trio, leaving the kosmiche jazz funk of Can and astral investigations of free jazz pioneers such as Pharoah Sanders and John Coltrane in the dust. But the raw beauty of the ambitious 42-minute album is a joy to behold. From its opener "The Prophecy" and its processed sheets of sound from Shabaka’s saxophone it sees him blasting his way out of a darkened expanse as the album goes caterwauling along to the rhythmic groove of drummer Maxwell.

With psychedelic intensity The Comet Is Coming chanel the ghosts of Sun Ra, Funkadelic and the BBC Radiophonic Workshop. Here is the universe in a microcosm; the life-force distilled down to its raw essence: sex and dancing. Sub-bass, slamming analogue synths, unhinged sax breaks. Our saviours Danalogue The Conqueror, Betamax Killer (both Soccer96) and King Shabaka (Sons Of Kemet, Melt Yourself Down) come bearing their debut album Channel The Spirits.
