Atlantic Crossing is Rod Stewart's sixth album, released in 1975. It peaked at number one in the UK (his fifth solo album to do so), and number nine on the Billboard Top Pop Albums chart.

Rod Stewart’s 1975 superstar breakthrough album is a supremely upbeat résumé of his vocal talents. The roguish peacock rocker of Alright for an Hour and Three Time Loser is happy to drop his defenses for the heartbreaking folk of I Don’t Want to Talk About It and the wistful Sailing. And while Drift Away imbues Dobie Gray’s original with greater urgency, he’s equally keen to smooth out the ‘60s Detroit punch of This Old Heart of Mine with some sumptuous ‘70s Philly soul.

Atlantic Crossing is rather arbitrarily divided into Fast Side/Slow Side; thus too much of the album’s best work comes first, only to be followed by a qualitative drop-off (an altogether disastrous misreading of the late Danny Whitten’s I Don’t Want to Talk about It, rather listless performances of Goldberg/Goffin’s It’s Not the Spotlight and. nd’s Isley Brothers hit, This Old Heart of Mine ) happily saved by a late-inning rally  . If Atlantic Crossing isn’t Rod Stewart’s best record - and it isn’t - it at least comes within hailing distance of earlier masterpieces. In This Article: Rod Stewart.
