Actually (stylised as Pet Shop Boys, actually. is the second studio album by English synth-pop duo Pet Shop Boys. It was released on 7 September 1987 by Parlophone in the United Kingdom and by EMI Manhattan in the United States and Canada. According to Neil Tennant and music historian Wayne Studer, Actually loosely critiques Thatcherism, the political zeitgeist of the 1980s, and was recorded in anticipation of Margaret Thatcher's re-election.

On 7 September 1987 the Actually LP is released. Please/Further listening: 1984-1986 (2018 remaster). Actually/Further listening: 1987-1988 (2018 remaster). r listening: 1988-1989 (2018 remaster). Elysium/Further listening: 2011-2012 (2017 remaster). Yes/Further listening: 2008-2010 (2017 remaster). Nightlife/Further listening: 1996–2000 (2017 remaster). Release/Further listening: 2001-2004 (2017 remaster).

Actually was the second studio album released by the band, and is widely regarded as one of their best offerings. It has been praised as one of the most memorable albums of the 80's. The title of the album was meant to be, typically, another witticism by the band. According to Neil, It was so English and kind of arch and it was kind of a joke and it was something we said a lot," says Neil.

With their second album, Actually, the Pet Shop Boys perfected their melodic, detached dance-pop. Where most of Please was dominated by the beats, the rhythms on Actually are part of a series of intricate arrangements that create a glamorous but disposable backdrop for Neil Tennant's tales of isolation, boredom, money, and loneliness.

Band Name Pet Shop Boys.

Album · 1987 · 10 Songs. 2001 Parlophone Records Ltd, a Warner Music Group Company. More By Pet Shop Boys. Discography: The Complete Singles Collection. The title isn't entirely an arch joke, however. Like Actually, Introspective was an exploration of distant, disaffected yuppies, which naturally resulted in a good deal of self-analyzation.
