Thriller is the third studio album by pub rock band Eddie and the Hot Rods and it reached on the UK Singles Chart. Released in 1979, it is produced by Peter Ker. The album builds on the sound they have established in the previous studio album Life on the Line. Shortly after the release of Thriller, the band was sacked by their record company and forced to join EMI Records.
Eddie would love to make another Van Halen album, but that plan has obstructions. It’s hard, because there are four people in this band, and three of us like rock’n’roll. The first question every rival guitarist asked upon hearing the first Van Halen album was, How is he making those sounds? The second tended to be, And how can I copy it? As a consequence, the 1980s were saturated with Eddie clones, all of whom tried to prove that they, too, could hammer on the neck of their guitar with maximum dexterity. The time that Eddie Gilbert spent in the WWF was largely uneventful. He was basically a glorified jobber whose high water mark was getting destroyed by the Masked Superstar on television. It wouldn’t be much longer after that he got to shine in smaller promotions and Hot Stuff Eddie Gilbert really made people take notice. Gilbert would later work for Mid South/UWF and found his niche as the company’s booker. He had his own heel stable of wrestlers Hot Stuff International and the UWF television programs became regarded as one of the best written shows in the industry
