Tennessee Waltz" returned to the charts in the fall of 1959 with a rockabilly version recorded by both Bobby Comstock & the Counts and Jerry Fuller: on the Billboard Hot 100 the versions respectively reached and while Cash Box assigned both versions a joint ranking on its Top 100 Singles chart with a peak position of Leonard Cohen released a live version of "Tennessee Waltz" recorded in 1985– one of the few covers he's ever cut – on his 2004 album Dear Heather; this version featured an additional verse written by Cohen himself. Belle and Sebastian used the melody from "Tennessee Waltz" in their song "Slow Graffiti".

The week Jerry Fuller's "Tennessee Waltz" peaked at Bobby Comstock & the Counts' covered version of the same song was at and that would also be it's peak position on the Top 10. .And from the 'For What It's Worth' department; exactly nine years earlier on Nov. 16th, 1950 Patti Page's covered version of "Tennessee Waltz" was at on Billboard's Best Selling Pop Singles chart, and just under five weeks later it would peak at {for 9 weeks}. Barry from Sauquoit, NyIn 1959 this song charted twice; Bobby Comstock peaked at No. 52 and Jerry Fuller took it to No. 63, and then in 1964 Sam Cooke topped out at No. 35!!! Daniel from Seattle, WaJesse Winchester's song, "The Brand New Tennessee Waltz" can be heard as a sequel to this tune. It's on his first album.
