San Francisco Bay Blues" is an American folk song and is generally considered to be the most famous composition by Jesse Fuller. Fuller first recorded the song in 1954 (released 1955) for a small label called World Song. The song was brought into wider popularity in the early 1960s by club performances by Ramblin' Jack Elliott, Bob Dylan, and Jim Kweskin.

Debuting in 1973, the San Francisco Blues Festival is the longest running blues festival in the United States. Tom Mazzolini, the event's producer, founded the blues festival to educate the public about the history and evolution of the blues. Many of the performers at the early concerts were the pioneers and originators of the West Coast blues sound. In 2008, Mazzolini announced that after 37 consecutive years, the festival was forced to cease production due to economic reasons.

San Francisco was one of the original bitmap typefaces for the Apple Macintosh computer released in 1984. It was designed by Susan Kare to mimic the ransom note effect and was used in early Mac software demos and Apple company fliers. An official TrueType version was never made, and San Francisco was rendered obsolete with the arrival of System 7. Saint Francis, by Hank Gillette, is a free TrueType font of similar design sometimes used as a surrogate on non-Apple systems. It is considered extinct and is one of the several 6,000 m (19,700 ft) peaks in the area, of which the chief is the Ojos del Salado.
