Along with Songs from the Big Chair, The Seeds of Love was part of a one-two artistic punch in the late '80s that situated Tears for Fears as one of the decade's more ambitious pop groups.
The album is just beauty all around and with just 8 songs that are lengthy, there is a guarentee that there is no fillers and people will enjoy and treasure the album if they are interested in this kind of music, which is power-pop/rock music. Standout tracks: + Woman In Chains + Sowing the Seeds Of Love + Advice For The Young At Heart + Year Of The Knife + Famous Last Words. Sundara Karma Youth Is Only Ever Fun in Retrospect. Sleaford Mods Key Markets. Cooking With Caustic From Mercury to Pluto.
Before you dismiss Tears For Fears for their earlier pop hits like 'Mad World', 'Shout' and 'Everybody Wants to Rule the World', as popular as they may have been; their third album 'Seeds Of Love' contains a barrage of musical sounds and lyrics, unparalleled to anything they had released before. The Seeds of Love (on which Ian Stanley appeared for the last time as a TFF member), at a reported production cost of over a million pounds
The production on this entire album is great and features arguably the most talented "band" Tears for Fears assembled. Some of them only appeared on the recording, while others who also joined the touring band. The album features contributions from Nicky Holland, Oleta Adams, Phil Collins, Pino Palladino, John Hassell just to name a few. Give this one a listen. It is not talked about nearly enough as a "classic". I would love to see a remaster of Tears for Fears albums "Elemental" and "Raul & the Kings of Spain".
