The Real Tuesday Weld, Recordings. We like digital too - but just not as the only thing so, with one or two exceptions, there is always a physical version - and often a beautiful physical version. The Clerkenwell Kid Says

On his second album for Six Degrees, the Real Tuesday Weld (aka Stephen Coates) takes up his alter ego of the Clerkenwell Kid in full form. The fare is primarily in the realm of ballads, but thoroughly built upon sampling, looping, and keyboard arrangements. The end result is in many cases like a more contemporary Serge Gainsbourg, with beats and grooves mixed in here and there. It's a relatively airy affair, if somewhat somber at times. It's a fitting mood for what would seem to be an album motivated in large part by lost love and reminiscence

The Real Tuesday Weld are a British band, founded by lead singer and producer Stephen Coates in 1999. They are known for producing jazzy cabaret-style music with subtle electronica influences, a style dubbed "Antique Beat" by Coates. They have released six albums, many singles and EPs and many tracks on compilations. The band is named after American film actress Tuesday Weld. Coates once had a dream involving Weld and 1930s vocalist Al Bowlly, and cites it as inspiration for the band's particular style. At present, the band is signed to Crammed (Europe, Australasia, South America) and Six Degrees Records (North America). The 2009 album "The Clerkenwell Kid: Live at the End of the World" is an imaginary live recording of a concert on the 'eve of the apocalypse'.

Originally inspired by a dream of Greek bandleader Al Bowlly and actress Tuesday Weld, Stephen Coates found his inspiration to create music unafraid to be lush and fabulous and willing to tickle the ear with textures and timbres. Many talented collaborators and friends join Stephen Coates in the studio and on stage: Clive Painter, Jacques Van Rhijn, Jed Woodhouse, David Guez, Don Brosnan, Brian Lee, Pinkie McClure, Pam Berry, Martine Roberts, Martyn Jacques, Mara Carlyle, David Piper, Cibelle to name a few.
