Modern Life Is Rubbish is the second studio album by the English rock band Blur, released on 10 May 1993. Although their debut album Leisure (1991) had been commercially successful, Blur faced a severe media backlash soon after its release, and fell out of public favour. After the group returned from an unsuccessful tour of the United States, poorly received live performances and the rising popularity of rival band Suede further diminished Blur's status in the UK.

Modern Life Is Rubbish is Britpop band Blur’s second studio album, released on May 10th 1993. Modern Life Is Rubbish Q&A. What was the inspiration for the record? According to Damon Albarn, Modern Life Is Rubbish was started shortly after Blur’s first ever tour of America. When I first went to America with Blur it was a very alien place and it had a massive affect on us in a way and we came back and made Modern Life Is Rubbis. t was kind of a prophetic vision of what England would become in the near future. You could see all that stuff that would transform England into something else.

Modern Life Is Rubbish is the second album by English alternative rock band Blur, released in May 1993.

Country: UK & Europe.

Blur still play MLIR songs in their set list to this day (For Tomorrow, Blue Jeans, Advert, Coping, Chemical World), and played virtually the whole album until Coxon left in 2002.

Modern Life Is Rubbish is the second studio album by the English alternative rock band Blur, released in May 1993.

Modern Life Is Rubbish, as the opening salvo in Blur's Britpop trilogy, is steeped in this nostalgia. There was a double meaning to the choice of title - as Damon Albarn told NME at the time of its release, he believed that there was nothing new to say: "Modern life is the rubbish of the past. We all live on the rubbish: it dictates our thoughts. And because it's all built up over such a long time, there's no necessity for originality anymore. As it was, Modern Life Is Rubbish set the template for the rest of Blur's Britpop 90s. Setting fire to the subtlety that still existed across this album, they mastered cartoonish pop songs that crushed the charts. The rowdy songs are just flatter rehashes of the better rowdy songs on Modern Life.
