Metropolis was a German band in the mid-1970s from West Berlin, initiated by former members of other Berlin bands Tom Hildebrandt (Mythos) and Manfred Opitz and Michael Westphal (Zarathustra). Michael Duwe joined them after returning from the recording of the album Seven Up with Ash Ra Tempel and Timothy Leary.
Metropolis is a melodic rock duo between heroes of the genre, Peter Fredette and Stan Meissner. Peter handles the lead vocals and bass while Stan contributes the guitars, keyboards and drums. All songs on The Power of the Night are written by Meissner, also benefiting by external contributions here and there. Those familiar with Stan’s solo works should note that Metropolis is a substantially guitar driven album featuring equal amounts of guitars and keyboards- riffs, rhythm parts, melodic lines and harmonious solos are all included here

The Average White Band formed in 1972 and released their first album, Show Your Hand, the following year. After it failed to break through, the group shortened its name to AWB and released a self-titled album in 1974. This song from that album not only broke through, but became a surprise hit in the US, catapulting AWB to stardom almost overnight. Later in 1974, drummer and founding member Robbie McIntosh died of a drug overdose at a Hollywood party. Since then, Average White Band has reunited for the occasional obscure album and/or tour. In 2005 they re-recorded "Pick Up The Pieces" along with several other of their older songs for a CD titled Greatest And Latest. The original version of this song has been sampled by a number of rap and hip-hop artists, and has also often been played at sporting events.
The Metropolis Project is Robert Davis, Doug MacBeath, Mike Kesniak, Dave Watkins, Tom Borton, and special guest Dino Papanicolaou. The Metropolis Project was formed in 1984 by Robert Davis, Doug MacBeath, and Mike Lesniak. After only a couple of live shows Dave Watkins joined the band bringing keyboards into the mix. Later, Tom Borton joined as Sax and Steinerphone player as well as recording engineer on some of the tracks. The Metropolis Project is a unique blend of Rock, Jazz, and Progressive styles. This album is a compilation of demo and live in studio recordings recorded between 1985 and 1987.
In that sense, Metropolis picks up nicely where his equally pop/rock-oriented 2007 album East of Angel Town left off. Falling somewhere between the yearning alt-rock vibe of Coldplay and the soulful dance-rock of Maroon 5, this is melodic adult alternative pop with a focus on Cincotti's bright and passionate vocal style
