Songs of Faith is a live album by American singer Aretha Franklin. It was released in 1965 by Checker Records. The album was recorded live in 1956 by J-V-B Records at New Bethel Baptist Church in Detroit, Michigan, when Franklin was aged 14. Aretha Franklin's recording career began in 1956 with the help of local record label J-V-B Records.

Aretha Franklin, who died Thursday (Aug. 16) at the age of 76, has long been known as The Queen of Soul. But with 17 top ten hits on the Billboard Hot 100 and 20 that have gone No. 1 on the R&B charts - as well as 18 Grammys, and 75 million albums sold - she could have easily just been the Queen of Music. Aretha’s discography is unbelievably vast; a singles chart fixture from the 1960s through the 1990s, running the gamut from easy listening to stomping soul, dance pop and contemporary R&B. But her hits read like the soundtrack to 40 years of the radio. But it’s hard to work around the brilliance of classic-era Aretha, when that voice, that piano and those songs combined to define the times and set a standard for what we call soul. It’s almost impossible to pick just ten, but here are ten Essential Tracks from Aretha Franklin’s classic era

The 50 Greatest Aretha Franklin Songs. Essential moments from pop music’s greatest voice. Franklin did more than revive it; she turned a leftover into one of her most transcendent singles. Working with producer Jerry Wexler and producer-arranger Arif Mardin, Aretha bore down on the craft of record-making for this song and its accompanying album, Let Me in Your Life. Everything we’d done with her has always been woodshedding in the studio with just the rhythm section there, Wexler said, but these were the first arranged sessions we’d done with her.
