Nick of Time is the 10th album by the American singer Bonnie Raitt, released on March 21, 1989. A commercial breakthrough after years of personal and professional struggles, Nick of Time topped the Billboard 200 chart, selling five million copies, and won three Grammy Awards, including Album of the Year, which was presented to Raitt and producer Don Was. In 2003, the album was ranked number 230 on Rolling Stone magazine's list of the 500 greatest albums of all time

At the time, the pairing seemed a little odd, since he was primarily known for the weird hipster funk of Was (Not Was), but the match turned out to be inspired. Was used Raitt's classic early-'70s records as a blueprint, choosing to update the sound with a smooth, professional production and a batch of excellent contemporary songs.

Before Nick of Time became perhaps the biggest Cinderella story in Grammy history - as well as the cement to Bonnie Raitt’s now-unshakeable legacy as a singular song interpreter and advocate for the blues tradition, and the soundtrack to so many ‘90s babies’ childhoods - it was a last-ditch effort to salvage the career of . It was Raitt’s 10th studio album, but her first to crack the Billboard 200’s top 25. Over nearly 20 years, she’d gone from prodigy college dropout to undeniable live performer, whose recorded catalog was filled with uncompromising roots music and major label attempts to channel her obvious gifts into pop success. And at the very moment when that seemed the least likely, the impossible happened: the right artist made the right album at the right time.

Band Name Bonnie Raitt. Album Name Nick of Time. 2. Thing Called Love.

Produced by Don Was. Album Nick Of Time. A friend of mine, she cries at night And she calls me on the phone Sees babies everywhere she goes And she wants one of her own. She's waited long enough she says And still he can't decide Pretty soon she'll have to choose And it tears her up inside. She is scared Scared to run out of time. I see my folks are getting on And I watch their bodies change I know they see the same in me And it makes us both feel strange
