well as a handful of pre-Big Star cuts by Icewater and Rock City, all topped off with a live disc culled from a three-set stint at Memphis' Lafayette's Music Room in January of 1973, not long after Bell left the band. Excepting subsequent reunions in the '90s and 2000s, no corner of the band's career remains untouched on Keep an Eye on the Sky and rarities are abundant, with 55 of its 98 tracks previously unreleased

Radio City is the second album by the American rock group Big Star. Released in 1974, Radio City was recorded during 1973 at Memphis' Ardent Studios. Though not a commercial success at the time, it is now recognized as a milestone album in the history of power pop music. Critically acclaimed upon its release, the record sold poorly, partly due to a lack of promotion and the distribution problems of the band's struggling record label, Ardent Records

It's been a long time coming but Big Star finally got a boxed-set out called, "Keep An Eye On The Sky", which is a must-hear for those who wonder where groups like R. E. M. and The Replacements (just to name a few) got the idea to make aching, all-too-personal ballads. Still, Chilton managed to trudge on, even when bassist Andy Hummell left the band. What emerged after that was the often-talked about third album, which goes by a series of different titles depending on who you ask (like "Sister Lovers" or "Third"). An Alex Chilton solo album all but in name, the third record took the fatalism of the first two albums much to heart and the result was a stammering collection of songs full of sudden stops and harrowing outbursts.

Eye in the Sky is the sixth studio album by English rock band The Alan Parsons Project, released in June 1982 by Arista Records. Songs on this album are in a number of different styles, from cool and funky to lyrical and heavily orchestrated.

Thunder Clouds Tom Armstrong - The Sky Is An Empty Eye Reissue of the super-rare 1987 private-press LP. CD/LP/Digital Tompkins Square's recent double-album, Imaginational Anthem vol. 8 : The Private Press, shed light on forgotten, impossibly rare guitar recordings spanning several decades

The booklet includes new liner notes, with contributions from Alan Parsons and Eric Woolfson, as well as rare photos. The Egyptian motif that was so strong on the album Pyramid was revived with "Eye in the Sk. Sirius, the dog-star in the night sky, was variously associated with Hathor, Sophet, and Isis. The Eye of Horus was so well known, that portions of it would be used on heiroglyphs to represent fractions of whole numbers (so those of you who thought the Roman number system was tough, imagine math with heiroglyphs!); and the Eye was also considered a powerful protection symbol.

With their sixth studio album, 1982's Eye in the Sky, the Alan Parsons Project made a break with tradition - and scored their biggest hit in the bargain. When the group entered the studio in late 1981, they were already riding an extended commercial hot streak: Each of their previous five LPs had entered the . So this time we felt 'let's just go in and make an album and then maybe at the end decide what it's all about. For most successful recording artists, making a pronounced change on their sixth LP would carry a certain amount of risk. The idea was to make recordings much as Kubrick of Hitchcock made movies, where the production values were the key rather than star actors," Woolfson explained to Vintage Rock. I thought at the time that many others would follow in our footsteps but this didn't happen.

Album: Eye In The Sky (1982). Charted: 3. Get the Sheet Music License This Song He never let me forget that I actually disliked Eye In The Sky when he first played it to me - arguably my most famous mistake. Robert from Las Vegas, NvFew people know that this song was actually the genius result of eric woolfson's discovery about gambling, along with alan parsons engineering talent. The eye on the album cover has nothing to do with Satan, in fact quite the opposite. Kevin from Reading, PaThe Alan Parsons Project did have a few interesting songs, but the "group" - or Parsons if you will - hijacked its own success when they stopped featuring Eric Woolfson as the lead vocalist and tried out someone else.
