Chaos of Forms is the third studio album by American technical death metal band Revocation, released on August 16, 2011 by Relapse Records. This album is the last album to feature their original bass player, Anthony Buda, and the first album to feature their current rhythm guitarist, Dan Gargiulo.
On Chaos of Forms, Revocation took on a second guitarist Dan Gargiulo who compliments Davidson and lends more complexity to some of the guitar solos for example on Cradle Robber. Yet for all of Davidson’s charismatic dominance of the group, no one instrument overshadows the others thanks to the excellent work of Pete Rutcho who produced the band’s first demo when it changed its name in 2005. This album is definitely a heavy metal highlight of 2011, there’s no denying that.

Album Chaos of Forms. Chaos of Forms Lyrics. Enveloped in entropy A swirling torrent of imagery An implanted contagion Wrenches my mind from its foothold in sanity. I have become a victim Of a world fragmented and askew Vivid hallucinations Seep into all that I do. Helpless I writhe Conduit of eyes Reaching into my mind Entities pry Discordant forms arise Ethereal sprites. Imperial towers Luminescent shine Gaining in power Through gates I arrive Outside of space and time Endlessly changing.
Since their inception, Revocation have been steadily building exposure with two solid albums and a exceptional live show. 2009's critically well recived Existence is Futile, established the band's virtuoso abilities and opened doors. Their signature blend of grove, stomping riffs, and skull crushing brutality isn't anthything ground breaking, but has enough personality to ascend the new wave of thrash stereotype they don't deserve. Their third full length, Chaos of forms, attempts to assault your ears and continue their onslaught in the metal genre. Not only have Revocation hit the mark with this LP, but they've carried the target back to Boston.
Chaos of Forms will be released on August 16 through Relapse Records. Also, keep an eye out for a piece on Revocation in an upcoming issue of Guitar World.
