Notes

"The Schizoid Band would like to dedicate this album to the memory of their dear friend and colleague Nick Griffiths, who died so tragically in March 2005."

The music on this CD was recorded at B.B. Kings Blues Club in Times Square, New York on the evening of April the 27th 2004, and is a mixture of both the early and late shows. It was recorded by taking a direct stereo output from the live mixing desk and feeding it straight into a minidisk recorder. It was then trasferred to Logic Pro 7 where it was edited and tweaked.

All tracks edited and tweaked at Silesia Sound in London, November and December 2005.
Mastered at Silesia Sound in London.

Ian Wallace plays and recommends Yamaha Drums, Zildjian cymbals, Evans Drumheads and Shure microphones.
Jakko plays Parker Fly Guitars, Fender Amps and strings and uses Line 6 products.

Unlicensed reissue.
Packaged in a jewel case with a transparent tray. Includes an 12-page booklet.

The name derives from the famous song "21st Century Schizoid Man" from the first King Crimson album, In the Court of the Crimson King. The initial band featured Mel Collins on saxophones, flute and keyboards, Michael Giles on drums, Peter Giles on bass, Ian McDonald on alto saxophone, flute and keyboards, and Jakko Jakszyk on guitar and vocals. All but Jakszyk had previously been members of King Crimson in its early years. Ian Wallace, another former Crimson member from that same period, replaced Mike Giles in early 2003 after the band's Japanese tour. Pictures of a City – Live in New York (2006).

This is an instrumental workout which works well among the classics. 1970 also saw the emergence of Lizard, the band's third album to which Mel Collins contributed as a full band member. This album is here represented by its best track, Circus-excellently performed, like everything else here. Compared to the already very good Live In Japan release, Pictures Of A City - Live In New York is even more solid with one great classic after another and not a single sub par song. 21st Century Schizoid Band is an extremely tight unit with a goldmine of great material to draw from. The existence of this great band and this fantastic live recording in particular is especially significant in light of the fact that Robert Fripp and co have entirely turned their backs on material from the band's early days.
