The Joneses will forever be remembered for the super-crossover hit Sugar Pie Guy, which probably overshadows everything they ever did. However, what it masks is a band that endured nearly two decades to bring a consistently high quality of sounds for our pleasure. And during that tenure, they released two excellent LPs, Keeping Up With The Joneses (1974) and The Joneses (1977) The Joneses. For their first album, Keeping Up With The Joneses (1974), Sylvester Brooks departed and Harold Taylor was reunited with the Joneses as their prominent baritone lead. Their first single, Baby Don’t Do It, was released in 1973 sporting their trademark doo wop intro, and was another Detroit Emeralds influenced shuffler.
